Another week in Hull👌🏼

Hello!!
Well this week has been full of spiritual inspiration, learning
opportunities, miracles, and interesting moments.
To start off I have some exciting news about Lisa! She had her
interview and will be baptised on Saturday! She is nervous but she has
such a strong testimony and she truly wants to follow Christ's
example. She received a blessing to help her feel comfort and she said
she felt so much peace after. We are excited for her and the decision
she is making. And she's inviting her non member family to her
baptism!
A couple was married on Saturday so we got to attend their wedding. It
was fun, got to talk to their nonmember friends and family. They are
getting sealed on Thursday in the Preston temple which is exciting!
We has an interesting end to the week... So this week my finger has
been sore and swollen and I was told to soak it in salt and warm
water. I did that for a couple days but it got worse and worse. Sunday
at church a member noticed it (it was that big...) and showed it to a
nurse who was there. They told me I need to go to the emergency room
asap because it was extremely infected. We spent the whole evening in
the emergency room and they took an x-ray and did a little operation
and told me to come back in the morning. This morning we came back and
they numbed it and did another procedure. Hopefully it will heal up
nicely :) but everything is okay now, good news is it won't need to be
amputated!
We were blessed to have Zone Conference this week which is always full
of inspiration and answers to questions. I was asked to give
instruction on tailoring our message to each person. I was quite
nervous but I was able to learn so much and it went better than I
thought it would be! We have been trying to focus on members, how to
get them more involved in missionary work, and how to help them fulfil
their missionary responsibilities. Because when missionaries and ward
members work together great things happen. Got some great ideas on
that.
Our zone leaders told us to ask ourselves 3 questions everyday. And I
challenge each of you to ask yourself these questions each day:
1. Am I happy? If not how can I be?
2. Have I seen God's hand? If not how can I?
3. Have a served my companion (friend, husband, wife, kids)? If not how can I?
These questions are so simple but they have really helped us keep a
better positive attitude and we have been happier! Attitude changes
everything.
Sister Blair gave great instruction in choosing JOY. And a way to
choose joy is to "forget yourself and go to work" and to "look up and
turn out". When we are focused on others we forget about our own
problems and are able to make a difference in someone else's life.
Overall, the main advice I was given is that work overcomes
everything. I have noticed on my mission when I am focused on the work
and focused on serving others I am so much happier. I know there are
really hard things that we are asked to do in life and we have to
face. There are times when we don't feel like we can feel joy because
of our circumstances. But I know when we turn outwards to those around
us we can truly feel joy because we are following the example of our
Savior.

We were also able to have ward conference which was another amazing
opportunity to receive inspiration and guidance. Our bishop gave an
amazing talk on bearing our trials and challenges with patience. The
hard things we deal with now are making us great, strong, and powerful
men and women.
He talked about how we need to ask our father for help and have faith
that he will help us, BUT IF NOT we will still turn to Him for
guidance and help. He doesn't always take the pain away right away,
but if we turn to Him he will come to our aid. We are promised we will
not be tempted or challenged more than we can bare. Are you still
turning to Heavenly Father even when you don't receive help right
away? In D&C 121 Joseph Smith is going through his hardest moments in
Liberty Jail. He is feeling so alone, wondering where God is. But he
keeps asking for help, he keeps turning to our Father. In verse 7 & 8
it says, "peace be unto thy soul; thine adversity and thine
afflictions shall be but a small moment; And then, if thou endure it
well, God shall exalt thee on high." If we are patient through our
afflictions He will help us and give us the strength and courage we
need.
I have been reflecting on my mission so far and I still have moments
where I can't believe I am serving a mission because I never thought I
would. And even though it's been the hardest 6 months of my life,
everything I am learning and experiencing is making me stronger and
preparing me for what is to come. I will be forever grateful for the
time Heavenly Father has given me to learn and grow so much.

Hope you all have a great week! Remember to keep smiling :)
Love, Sister Stevens

When you find Kinder Buenos 3 for £1.20 😍

Hello my peeps,

Another great week in Hull 1 with my amazing companion Sister Mo. She
is such a hard worker and we have lots of fun together. Knocking on
doors and talking to people on the street is getting easier because we
are just being ourselves and making it fun. We like to call it fun
finding :) we have also been bearing our testimonies more in finding
and it truly makes a difference. I wish I could tell you everything
that happened this week but sadly it's impossible.
So here are some highlights:

Well for starters my fav chocolate bars were on sale this week so that
was a plus.

Got to teach the cutest recent converts and their young kids who were
baptised recently about endowments and dealings. It was so cool to see
how they are preparing and they get to make this special covenant to
be together as a family forever! We are blessed to have the priesthood
keys restored on the earth!

So there are these bushes that have brambles (kinda like an English
blackberry) that are everywhere in Hull and lucky us they are in
season :) it's a great snack to keep us going throughout the day.

L... is doing great! She is having some family struggles and wants her
fam to attend her baptism so we have pushes it back to the 17th of
September. But we have fasted and prayed and feel really good about
the 17th. She loves the gospel and is so excited to be baptised!

2 other sisters who are getting baptised next week had their
interviews this week and they passed! So we all went out to McDonald's
to celebrate haha. It was great. They were telling us about their
favourite lessons and they are grateful for the blessings of the
gospel because they have had difficult lives.

The work is definitely progressing here in Hull. I am happy to be
serving here and for the first time I feel like I am making a
difference. Which is a great feeling!
I have been working a lot on Christlike love, which is a hard
attribute to master. And I don't think I ever will. But the world is a
hard place to live in and everyone just needs to feel love. So my
challenge this week is to show someone who needs it a little extra
love. And read John 4 :) someone very special to me who is living in
Ghana shared it with me ;)

Love you all,

Sister Stevens

No pics this week but she sent this short video:

The light at the end of the tunnel!!!!!!

WOW is all I can say. I LOVE being a missionary and I LOVE serving in Hull 1! It truly is the promised land. So many people who are prepared for the gospel are here!!
Monday night we said goodbye to some of my favs in Leeds that will be missed. So many people I have been able to serve with and learn from.
I took my train to Hull early the next morning and met my new comp Sister Mokgehle (sister mo) from South Africa! She is very easy going and we get along great :) It is almost too easy to be with her hah, but I am very grateful. She is a great missionary and works really hard. It is going to be a great transfer together! My first day was pretty crazy trying to get all the sisters where they need to be but it was an adventure :)
I feel so excited to start fresh and really work towards being the missionary I want to be. I feel like the last couple weeks I have let things get in the way of my purpose as a missionary. But I am here to serve the Lord and help others come closer to Christ.

Highlights-
I get to serve with one of my all time fav missionaries who I lived with in Leeds, Sister Blair! She is such a light to have and has helped me so much while I have been on my mission. She is serving with a new sister, and all 4 of us live together.

Tuesday night the missionaries and the ward missionaries got together for our weekly meeting at the missionary house in Hull (such a blessing). We also have a senior couple who get to come to our district meetings! The ward missionaries amaze me! They are all so involved with all of our investigators. And I can tell they really want to help them and us.

We have the most amazing investigator named L... She has gone through some really difficult times in the past but has always believed in God. The sisters met her on the bus about 2 weeks ago and she is getting baptized on September 2 with two other girls who the other sisters are teaching! They are all the most prepared people ever! They are what we call Golden Investigators. L… texted us the other day saying she wrote an essay on the Word of Wisdom and a summary on what she had read in the Book of Mormon! She loves the restored gospel so much and is sent straight from God. I feel so honored to be teaching her. The lessons we have with her are the most spiritual I have experienced on my mission.

Another investigator named A.. from Poland who is a former investigator. We decided to stop by her house one evening and she let us in! The other sisters had given her a childrens Book of Mormon and she said she had been reading it to her son! We taught her and she wants to keep meeting with us. We scheduled her for baptism because she says when she meets with us she feels a light :)

Well, lets just say, trials and challenges don't last forever. Heavenly Father will always bless us if we stay strong. I'm not saying I won't have other hard days, I'm sure there will be plenty. But I know there are always good times ahead. Elder Holland said, "Some blessings come soon, some come late, and some don't come until heaven; but for those who embrace the gospel of Jesus Christ, they come."
I am so grateful for the gospel and to see how it changes peoples lives. I am so thankful to have the help of Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ because this is truly their work. I just get to see it happen and I feel pretty lucky. I know Heavenly Father knows each and everyone of us individually and knows each of our situations. He knows exactly what we need and when we need it.
Know I love and miss you all and that I am HAPPY :)
love,
Sister Stevens
